All right guys, if you remember back in our webflow course, we took a look at a Mangools extension. The importance of OnPage SEO to optimize our website. Now I'm not going to go deep into SEO. The purpose of this lesson is to just give you a clear perspective of SEO foundations. I like to approach SEO in five simple steps.
These steps will depend on your project or budget, but these are the ones I've been doing for my own clients for the past 10 years and have always worked like a charm.
All right, so the first thing is to find profitable keywords. And by that, I mean keywords that are feasible and get lots of traffic. You'll want to begin by creating a set of keywords based on ideas from your brand content and niche.
One thing that I've always struggled with was, you know making this first step, but today it's easier than ever to find what people are searching for online. You can use Google to begin discovering what people search by simply letting the auto-complete guide you as you type your keywords. You can also use Google keyword planner, but you'll need to create a Google ad manager account to enable this, other tools to help you with this are Uber suggest and ahrefs.com
Their keyword search tool is quite advanced. If you already have access to a ahrefs do yourself a favor and run a full site audit. The report generated will give you a list of potential critical errors you want to fix right away. Most of these errors involve crawling issues, broken links, or page speed.
The cool thing about a ahrefs is that they provide a lot of clear instructions for you to resolve these common issues.
Number three, create shareable content, according to some of the best copywriters of all time, you should spend half of the entire time writing a piece of persuasive content on a headline.
So if you have a blog post that is really important to you or your business, One that you really want people to read. You should really obsess over your post title, whatever the benefit or message you carried in that headline still needs to work well with the body copy. So go ahead and check this resource to help you jumpstart your skills as a copywriter or even hire one.
Number four tracking you can't scale your marketing efforts until you know what's working and what's not. By getting your tracking all set up correctly you'll be able to see the traffic sources, the content and keywords that are driving revenue. You need to make sure you have your analytics set up correctly.
Keeping track of user's actions is paramount for success. Number five is link-building. There are many sources online that might lure you into believing you can buy these off quickly for accelerated results. Don't fall for that and avoid falling under that trap if you want your reputation to be preserved online.
Typically what I do is I create a target list of sites and I try to find their email address. I'll teach you how to obtain them with clever growth hacks in the next lesson.
Once you've got your list, it's all about creating an outreach strategy. There's plenty of templates you can find online to help you, but be sure you first find your niche.
Be authentic and foster a relationship first and foremost, don't just go in straight and ask for a back link.
So hopefully that gives you a clear path to begin your SEO efforts.
Let's jump to the next lesson and talk about some of the growth hacks I want to teach you.
